What makes the EUP unique > A new partnership

A large communication gap exists between science professionals and the general public. The EUP Collaborative is based upon an innovative partnership between leading scientists and education professionals, working in a close and cooperative relationship from the very beginning. This collaboration draws on the strengths of each group. The scientists are eager to communicate their extensive knowledge and research, and the informal science education professionals have the skills to translate these complex and often invisible phenomena to the public. Science educators at the Exploratorium (San Francisco), the Science Museum of Minnesota (St. Paul), and the Museum of Science and Industry (Chicago), filmmakers, exhibit and Web designers, and science journalists will continue to work together with the physicists, chemists, materials scientists, and biological physicists in over 40 ICAM research institutions to communicate emergent phenomena to the public at large. We are also seeking collaborations with professional societies in the U.S. and Europe.
